Manual J: Residential Load Calculation 7th Edition

The residential heating and cooling system must be selected and designed to provide comfort conditions in all occupied spaces regardless of season. Temperature, humidity, air movement and ventilation must be controlled by the system. In addition, the system must perform these functions at maximum efficiency in order to minimize energy consumption.

Manual J is primarily a load calculation manual. However, additional information has been included in the Appendix to expand the application of the Manual J procedure and to complete the discussion of residential heating and cooling equipment selection. Information on load calculations for unique application and on residential energy calculations can also be found in the Appendix.
